Midlands State University has acquired two Solis tractors as part of intensive efforts to boost production at the University’s Gwenoro Farm in tandem with the heritage-based Education 5.0 philosophy that calls on institutions of higher learning to come up with solutions that result in the production of goods and services.
MSU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Victor N. Muzvidziwa handed over the two tractors to Gwenoro Farm at a ceremony held at the farm on the 18th of August 2021.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Professor Muzvidziwa thanked the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Business, Innovation, and Enterprise Development, Professor Grace Mugumbate for taking a lead in the acquisition of the tractors. The Vice-Chancellor highlighted that the purchase of the tractors was part of the wider efforts by the University to enhance high-value activities at the farm, which include citrus, horticulture, and poultry production.
Gwenoro Farm Manager, Mr J Mataruse who led a tour of the various projects being undertaken at the farm, said the new tractors will help to increase production.
Among those who witnessed the handover was the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Business, Innovation and Enterprise Development, Professor Grace Mugumbate, Acting Bursar, Mr Douglas Zvidzai, Procurement Manager, Mr F. Mazwi, and various members of the University community.
