Mercy is interning under the Max Plank Society which recognizes the positive value of diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. The program gives talented undergraduate students with a background in condensed matter science from the global South to conduct scientific projects at their world-renowned research institute. She is working in Simon Krause group focusing on synthesizing metal organic frameworks.
