Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure Sciences

The Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure Sciences (DTHLS) acknowledges the ever-changing environment the tourism industry operates in. Generally, the tourism industry is one of the most resilient sectors that has overcame a number of social, economic, political, environmental and health shocks.  The DTHLS has been at the forefront of developing local innovative solutions to develop the tourism industry through equipping students with current knowledge. The Department is a renowned pace-setting and innovative tourism and hospitality training institute locally and feeds into the global market. Through its Degree programs which are 5.0-focused, the students are who are entrepreneurial minded are groomed.

The DTHLS also offers a platform for cutting edge research in collaboration with the private sector, which meaningfully contribute to the tourism and hospitality development and global competitiveness of destination Zimbabwe. Graduates from the DTHLS occupy all levels of workforce in Zimbabwe and internationally, from technical to strategic and policy-making in private, academic and public institutions. 

We offer career-focused teaching, that is relevant to the current phenomena and addresses the needs of our partners. 

The Department also boasts of several highly qualified staff constantly involved in cutting edge researches and publications in highly accredited journals. Some of the lecturers have researches and ideas with Intellectual Property Protection (IPP).
