Marketing and Communications

Mrs Mawere

Director

The Marketing and Communications Department is dedicated to enhancing the University’s reputation and strategically positioning its brand through the creation and exchange of value with key stakeholders. The department is structured into two distinct yet complementary sections: Marketing and Communications, each playing a vital role in delivering the University’s overarching marketing and communications strategy.

Marketing Section

The Marketing Section is responsible for promoting and positioning the Midlands State University brand, its services, and its offerings. This section conducts market research and competitor analysis to inform strategic decision-making. Additionally, it develops targeted promotional materials and oversees inventory management to support the University’s outreach efforts.  The section also coordinates the University’s participation in key external engagements, including exhibitions, expos, and career fairs, ensuring effective representation and stakeholder engagement.

Communications Section

The Communications Section serves as the central hub for all internal and external communications, ensuring consistent, coherent, clear, and impactful engagement with stakeholders while actively shaping the University’s brand identity. This unit manages every touchpoint of stakeholder interaction, from front-line receptions and switchboard operations to the University’s PABX telecommunications system. Beyond its core functions in stakeholder relationship management, crisis communication, and reputation management, the section produces a comprehensive suite of publications including Annual Reports, magazines, newsletters, press releases, corporate statements, promotional films, and advertisements. As custodians of the University’s digital footprint, the section maintains the institution’s website, social media platforms, and email communications. The section also fulfills a vital role as the University’s internal media arm, providing complete coverage of institutional events while managing all media relations with the fourth estate. Through this multifaceted approach, the Communications Section strategically positions the University’s narrative across all platforms and interactions, reinforcing its standing as a leading academic institution.

Together, these sections work collaboratively to strengthen the University’s brand, foster meaningful connections, and uphold its standing as a leading academic institution.
